Land North of Abbotsham Road, Bideford

OUR DEVELOPMENT

OUR DEVELOPMENT

We have acquired an interest in Land North of Abbotsham Road, Bideford, as shown in red in the plan below. This site already benefits from outline planning permission for up to 215 new homes (ref: 1/0926/2020/OUTM), which means that the principle of development on the land has been established, as well as two vehicular accesses into the site from Abbotsham Road.

We will shortly be submitting what is known as a ‘reserved matters’ planning application to Torridge District Council. A reserved matters application considers the scale, appearance, landscaping and layout of the proposals.

Before we submit our application, we are keen to share our detailed plans with the community. We are therefore hosting an online consultation, which runs from Friday 29th August to Wednesday 10th September. Please click here to read the detail of what we are planning – and once you have done that, click on the Feedback tab above to leave us your thoughts.

If you have any questions, or would prefer to receive a hard copy of the consultation materials, please get in touch with us.

OUR PROPOSALS

OUR PROPOSALS

In summary, we are proposing:

  • Around 191 new homes, of which 147 would be for open market sale and 44 (23%) would be available for affordable rent and shared ownership.

  • A mix of traditional two-storey houses and bungalows, which are currently in short supply locally.

  • An attractive network of green infrastructure to protect existing environmental assets on site, including Badgershill Wood.

  • New green space, including formal and informal areas for play and recreation, amenity space and allotments.

  • A sustainable drainage system (SuDS), using attenuation basins, which will replace the current uncontrolled greenfield run-off, with a controlled discharge rate that reduce the risk of downstream flooding.

  • A new footway/cycleway along Abbotsham Road to the south of the site.
